The correct usage and storage methods of PVC electrical insulation tape are as follows:
Usage
Surface Preparation: Before using the tape, make sure the surface of the wire or object to be wrapped is clean, dry and free of dust, oil and other contaminants. Wipe the surface with a clean cloth if necessary to ensure good adhesion of the tape.
Cutting the Tape: Use a sharp knife or scissors to cut the appropriate length of tape according to the actual needs. Do not pull the tape by hand to avoid uneven cutting or damage to the tape.
Wrapping the Tape: Start wrapping the tape from one end of the wire joint or the object to be insulated. Wrap it in a spiral manner with each turn overlapping about half of the width of the tape to ensure complete coverage and no gaps. When wrapping, keep the tape tight to ensure good contact with the surface of the wire and avoid wrinkles or bubbles.
Finishing: After wrapping, cut off the tape neatly and press the end of the tape firmly to make it stick well to prevent loosening. For multi - strand wires, it is necessary to wrap each strand of wire separately and then wrap them together as a whole to ensure reliable insulation.
Inspection: After using the tape, check whether the wrapped part is firm and whether the insulation effect is good. If there are any problems, re - wrap the tape in time.
Storage
Temperature and Humidity: Store the PVC electrical insulation tape in a dry and cool environment. The suitable temperature range is generally 5℃ - 35℃, and the relative humidity should be kept below 80%. Avoid storing it in an environment with high temperature, high humidity or direct sunlight, as this may cause the tape to age, become sticky or reduce its insulation performance.
Avoid Chemicals: Keep the tape away from chemical substances such as acids, alkalis and solvents, as these substances may react with the tape material and affect its performance.
Packaging Integrity: Store the tape in its original packaging or a sealed container to prevent dust and other impurities from adhering to the tape and affecting its adhesion. If the tape has been partially used, roll it up neatly and seal the opening to prevent the tape from drying out or becoming contaminated.
Stacking Method: When stacking the tape, do not place heavy objects on it to avoid deformation or damage to the tape. It is best to store it flat or hang it up to keep the tape in good condition.
Storage Period: Generally, the storage period of PVC electrical insulation tape is about 2 - 3 years. Check the condition of the tape regularly during storage. If any signs of deterioration are found, such as discoloration, hardening or loss of adhesion, the tape should not be used.
