Vertical axis wind turbines are designed to be economical and efficient, yet quiet and efficient. They are great for use in residential areas, while HAWT is best for commercial use. Wind turbines hold air in the hub, which turns it into a generator. Air passing through the wind turbine blades is rotated into the generator by rotational momentum. VAWTs have the following advantages due to the generally shorter blade:

 

  • Two to three blades with a main rotor shaft running vertically – the more blades on a unit, the more wind energy it receives and the more efficient it is
  • Less frequent use than horizontal wind turbines
  • The position of the leaves in the VAWT is different. In this model, the base of the tower holds the generator, and the blades are then wound around the shaft. People use VAWTs because they can be placed closer to the ground, which allows them to be used in residential areas with good results.
  • For vertical axis wind turbines, the rotor shaft is arranged in a vertical pattern
  • VAWTs are easier to maintain and more affordable than horizontal units
  • Some users have complained that VAWTs generate less wind energy, which can cause a lot of different noises to get into the heart.
  • Turbulent airflow may also shorten the life of the system.
  • Mounting the VAWT to the roof will result in doubling the wind speed for maximum wind turbulence and wind energy utilization.

Compared to horizontal axis wind turbines, they are stronger, smaller, quieter, more economical, and omnidirectional.
