Reaction principle
When the desulfurization reaction temperature is high, reaching 200-400°C, the desulfurization mechanism of iron oxide is different from that at room temperature, and it is generally considered to be carried out in the following three steps:
i. Reduction
Fe304 with desulfurization activity at 200~400 °C, and the active component in the desulfurizer is Fe20. Therefore, it should be fully reduced with reducing gas (H2 or C0) before use.
3Fe2O3+H2=2Fe304 +H2O. 3Fe2O3+CO=2Fe3O4+CO2
The reduction reaction is carried out at 170-300 °C, if the reduction temperature exceeds 300 °C, excessive reduction will occur, and iron oxide will be reduced to Fe304一FeO一Fe in turn, and when Fe0 or Fe appears, the activity of the desulfurizer decreases significantly. Due to the exothermic and counterheat of the reduction reaction head, a slight change in the concentration of the reduction medium may cause overtemperature and excessive reduction. Therefore, when carrying out the reduction operation, the reduction temperature and the concentration of the reduction medium should be strictly controlled.
ii. Organic sulfur conversion
The reduced Fe3O4 has a catalytic hydrogenation effect on some organic sulfur, and the reaction is as follows:
COS+H2=H2S+C0. CS2+2H2=2H2S+CH4
iii. Hydrogen sulfide removal
In the presence of hydrogen, the desulfurization reaction of Fe3O4 is:
Fe3O4+3H2S+H2=3FeS+4H20
