Flap Gates
Flap gates are made of cast iron, stainless steel or aluminum depending on the type of service.A small differential pressure on the back of the gate causes it to open automatically to allow discharge through levees or drainage conduits. And when water on the face side of the gate rises above water on the back side, the gate closes automatically to prevent backflow.
Flap gates are equipped with flat-back seats for attaching to wall thimbles, headwalls, and existing pipe flanges. The seat or frame of the flap gate is attached to a wall or pipe flange and forms the opening through which water passes.
Slide & Weir Gates
Slide gates are designed and manufactured with custom extrusions, structural members, and brake-formed plate.Through years of experience, we have developed techniques for fabricating high quality slide gates which are designed and built around job specific requirements. Since there are no machined parts or wedging devices, the gate depends upon seal design to seal the fabricated slide. Fabricated slide gates are furnished with UHMW seals which is an industry proven design. They are designed for either open channel use or aperture type applications.
Many treatment plants require downward-opening fabricated gates to permit a rough measurement of flow or to maintain a constant upstream water elevation. For these installations the gate slide opens downward to allow the flow of water over the top of the slide or weir plate. Either manual or electrically actuated lifting devices may be utilized. Weir gates may be self-contained or not self-contained.
