The working principle of the waterjet cutting machine intensifier pump:

 

After the tap water is filtered by the filter, it is pressurized by the water pump and enters the high-pressure cylinders at both ends of the intensifier. When the oil piston reciprocates, one end of the high-pressure cylinder enters water through the water inlet check valve, and the water in the other end of the high-pressure cylinder is pushed out and enters the high-pressure pipeline through the water outlet check valve. This action is performed alternately in the high-pressure cylinders at both ends to form a continuous flow of high-pressure water. Due to the reversing cycle of the supercharger, the pressure of the output water flow forms periodic fluctuations. Therefore, the high-pressure water flow needs to be stabilized by a high-pressure accumulator. The pump is the core member of the waterjet system. The water is pressurized and the water flow is continuously output, so that the cutting head turns the high-pressure water into a supersonic water jet.

There are many core components that affect the overall performance of the waterjet, such as high-pressure cylinders, accumulators, high-pressure plungers, high-pressure seals, and one-way valves. If a part fails, the waterjet may fail. Therefore, we must be careful when identifying parts.

Waterjet is a processing tool. If the processing efficiency is high, the failure rate is low, and the cost is low, then this product is relatively easy to be recognized by users. What is the difference between a direct drive pump and a pressurized water jet?

 

The direct drive pump is also known as the three-cylinder pump. As the name implies, the crankshaft with three pistons is directly driven to rotate by the motive to generate ultra-high water pressure. The direct drive pump design method originated in the United States, and has gradually matured and occupied a pivotal weight in the waterjet industry. More than 20% of the market waterjets use direct drive methods.

The booster oil pump is driven by oil pressure to form a larger pressure, and the oil pump forms an ultra-high pressure, so the accessories are generally made of hard metal materials, and the failure rate during use is relatively low. The water jet of the booster oil pump is the most widely used type of water jet booster.

In terms of pressure, the pressure of the booster oil pump is generally higher than that of the direct drive pump, so it can cut thicker metal materials and has a wider range of applications. Although the water jet of the direct drive pump can’t form such a high pressure, it can be used in ceramic tiles. Cutting, food, and cleaning operations are more cost-effective.

In terms of cost, the water jet of the pressurized oil pump will require greater consumption. Ultra-high pressure operation requires almost 30 degrees of electricity per hour. The monthly electricity consumption is also very huge, while the direct drive pump type is very economical, every hour. About ten kilowatt-hours of electricity, only one-third of the cost of the supercharged oil pressure type. In addition, the cost of equipment, hydraulic booster is also much higher than the cost of direct drive pump equipment.

In terms of quality, direct-drive pumps are generally not used for ultra-high pressure operations, so the parts and materials will be mixed with plastics, and booster pumps have strict requirements on metal materials, so the failure rate of booster pumps is much lower than that of direct-drive pumps.
