Ultrasonic cleaning is extremely fast and powerful.
It’s About the Bubble
At the heart of Ultrasonic Cleaning is the bubble; actually, lots of bubbles. These bubbles are created by sound waves as those waves move through water. This is known as Cavitation which is simply the formation of bubbles (a cavity) in water. If you’ve ever seen the foam left in water by a spinning boat propeller, then you’ve seen cavitation in action. We Don’t Actually Use PropellersAlthough propellers seem to spin incredibly fast when moving a boat, the bubbles they produce from that spinning can’t be used to clean. This is because while Morantz Ultrasonic Cleaning Systems do clean using cavitation, the bubbles produced by our Ultrasonic machines are very different from those produced by a propeller in two important ways:
First, our bubbles are enormously powerful compared to propeller bubbles.
Second, our bubbles are microscopic which makes them incredibly efficient.
How Cavitation Cleans
Since bubbles such as those created through Cavitation are just empty space, there’s nothing to keep them open. As a result, these bubbles collapse, or implode, almost as fast as they are created. In our machines, this happens millions of times per second. This constant implosion produces tremendous vacuum energy in the form of heat and pressure. It’s this combination of heat and pressure which gives Ultrasonics its cleaning capability and power.
What is ultrasonic cleaning?
Ultrasonic cleaning is an exceptional technique that facilitates the cleaning process. It is an exceptionally thorough process which cleans efficiently various items. This powerful process can perform very detailed work quickly and successfully remove microscopic particles from hard surfaces. External as well as internal surfaces, blind holes and crevices, can be cleaned simultaneously and uniformly. Greasy, oily and sticky parts are efficiently cleaned with an ultrasonic cleaning unit.
In order to protect users, preserve data and keep society running smoothly, it’s very important for electronics of all types to not just be regularly cleaned, but cleaned thoroughly.

Ultrasonics: The ONLY Way to Clean with Confidence
Regardless of the source of the dirt or contamination, AG Ultrasonic Cleaning Systems are designed to accommodate a wide variety of uses in diverse industries. Fast, effective and efficient, our machines will allow you to clean virtually any type of part or component. The following is just a short list of the many different types of items that have been cleaned using our systems.
What is the length of cleaning time?
Cleaning time will vary, depending on such things as soil, solution, temperature and the degree of cleanliness desired. Highly visible removal of soils should start almost immediately after the ultrasonic cleaning action begins. Cleaning time adjustment is the easiest (and most often misapplied) factor used to compensate for process variables. Although new application cycle duration can be approximated by an experienced operator, it usually must be validated by actual use with the chosen solution and the actual soiled parts.
What is the purpose of the unit heater?
The primary purpose of the unit heater is to maintain a solution temperature between cleaning cycles. The tremendous energy released by cavitation will generate the heat for cleaning.
Why must baskets be used?
Items being cleaned should never be placed directly on the tank bottom. Transducers (which produce the ultrasound) are sometimes bonded to the bottom of the tank. Items resting directly on the tank bottom can damage the transducers and/or reduce cavitation. Additionally, a tray or beaker will position the item within the optimal cleaning zone of the tank. The tray or beaker will also hold the load together and allow for easy, no-touch removal, draining and transport of the items to the next step in the cleaning process
What is the optimum cleaning temperature?
Heat usually enhances and speeds up the cleaning process, and most detergent solutions are designed to work best at an elevated temperature. The best way to find the optimum temperature, which will give you the fastest, cleanest and safest results, is to run tests. Usually, the best results are within the 50°C to 75°C range.
Understanding Ultrasonic Power
When an ultrasonic cleaner is running electrical power is consumed evenly but it is released in intervals to create the sound waves that shape the ultrasonic signal. Some manufacturers report ultrasonic peak power, others report average power, and some report both.
When comparing equipment you must compare based on the same criterion otherwise you’d be comparing apples with oranges.
While more power usually indicates faster and more effective cleaning, more power is not always better.
Too much power can damage electronic parts, the surface finish on a soft metal (e.g. aluminum), and other delicate items.
For cleaning extremely sensitive items, adjustable power is a useful feature.
Keep in mind that the larger the volume of solution, the more ultrasonic power will be needed for cleaning.
Most cleaners run at an average power of 50 to 100 watts per gallon, so the larger the tank the more power you need.Don’t attempt to increase the effective power of an ultrasonic cleaner by under-filling the tank.
Ultrasonic cleaner generators that power transducers are tuned to a particular fill level.
Operating the unit with less fluid can damage the generator and will result in less than optimized cleaning.
When ultrasonic energy is introduced into a cleaning solution, it creates a pattern of alternating high and low pressure. The extreme low-pressure phase creates microscopic vacuum bubbles. During the subsequent high-pressure phases, the bubbles implode violently. This process is known as cavitation.
Cavitation provides an intense scrubbing action that leads to quick and consistent cleaning. It takes the standard practice of manual immersion and agitation to a much higher level. The bubbles are small enough to penetrate even microscopic crevices, allowing for cleaning in the most out-of-reach corners.
