Silicon carbide nozzles are commonly used in various industries for abrasive blasting, cutting, and cleaning applications due to their exceptional wear resistance, hardness, and thermal conductivity. Due to the specific gravity of silicon carbide being 3.1 g/cm³, and its relatively high sublimation temperature (approximately 2700 °C), it is very suitable as a raw material for bearings or high-temperature furnaces. Under any pressure that can be achieved, it does not melt, and it has a relatively low chemical activity. Because of its high thermal conductivity, high breakdown electric field strength, and the highest current density, some have attempted to use it as a substitute for silicon, especially in the application of high-power semiconductor devices. In addition, silicon carbide has a strong coupling effect with microwave radiation, and due to its high sublimation point, it can be applied to heating metals.

However, to machine an internal hole with a diameter of 1mm (+0.02, -0), and Roughness Ra0.2-0.8 on such a material, our technicians tried many ways, taking as long as half a year, and finally succeeded in making it.

Half a year ago, our technicians met technical bottleneck on SSiC because of its frangibility.

First, silicon carbide is non-conductive, so EDM wire cutting cannot be used.

These are the methods we've tried:

5. Temperature Resistance: Silicon carbide can withstand high temperatures without losing its structural integrity, making it suitable for applications involving extreme heat.
6. Dimensional Stability: Silicon carbide maintains its shape and dimensional stability even under harsh operating conditions, ensuring consistent performance over time.
7. Reduced Maintenance: Due to its durability and resistance to wear, silicon carbide nozzles typically require less frequent replacement and maintenance compared to nozzles made from other materials.
