Titanium is an important structural metal developed in the 1950s. Titanium alloy has been widely used in various fields because of its high specific strength, good corrosion resistance and high heat resistance. Many countries in the world have realized the importance of titanium alloy materials, and have carried on research and development, and got practical application. Titanium is a type ⅳ B element in the periodic table. It looks like steel and is refractory metal with melting point of 1 672 ℃. Titanium is abundant in the crust, much higher than Cu, Zn, Sn, Pb and other common metals. Titanium resources are extremely rich in China. In the ultra-large vanadium-titanium magnetite found in Panzhihua, Sichuan province alone, the associated titanium reserves are about 420 million tons, close to the total proven titanium reserves abroad. Titanium alloy can be divided into heat resistant alloy, high strength alloy, corrosion resistant alloy (ti-molybdenum, ti-Palladium alloy, etc.), low temperature alloy and special function alloy (ti-iron hydrogen storage material and ti-nickel memory alloy), etc.
Titanium tube has light weight, high strength and superior mechanical properties. It is widely used in heat exchange equipment, such as tubular heat exchanger, coil heat exchanger, serpentine tube heat exchanger, condenser, evaporator and transmission pipeline, etc. Many nuclear power industries use titanium tubes as standard tubes for their units.
