Nitrogen-Alloyed Martensitic Stainless Steels
Though PER is expensive, lower but nitrogen contents achieved by argon oxygen decarburization process.
The limited solubility of nitrogen can be increased by the pressure electroslag refining process, in which melting is carried out. Steel containing up to 0.442% nitrogen is achieved, lead higher hardness and higher corrosion resistance.
