MPO connectors enable multichannel fiberless transmission and reduce the size of a connector interface, boasting the backing of integrated cabling design standards ISO/IEC 24764 and ANSI/TIA-568-C.
In the Internet of Things era, the use of new technologies in data centers is commonplace. To save double the space or more, data centers use MPO / MTP patchcord, a patchcord that is only double the size of an LC patchcord, making it a much denser fiber optic connection.
MPO connections must match the correct core count and come with opposite polarity (male and female). Additionally, both connectors must possess the same type of polishing (PC or APC). Female connectors cannot be connected together unless they possess the same polarity.
When selecting an MPO patchcord, first determine the gender and polarity of the required connector for the data center. For example, if the expected connector is male, an accompanying female patchcord must be purchased.
