ASTM B865 is a standard specification for precipitation-hardening nickel-copper alloys such as MONEL K500. MONEL K500 has a unique combination of properties that make it suitable for use in high-stress applications at both room temperature and elevated temperatures. The precipitation-hardening process used to manufacture MONEL K500 round bars involves heating the material to a specific temperature and then cooling it rapidly. This process creates a fine dispersion of precipitated particles in the material, which increases its strength and hardness. MONEL K500 round bars can be machined using conventional methods, but they are more difficult to machine than many other materials due to their high strength and hardness.
