Definition
A tube sheet is a flat plate used to support and contain a series of tubes in various types of heat exchangers, boilers and condensers. It is usually made of metal, such as stainless steel or carbon steel, and is usually designed with holes or tube perforations into which the tube is inserted and secured. The tubes are aligned in a parallel way, and they are supported and held in place by tubesheets.
There are two types of tube sheet: floating tube sheet and stationary tube sheet.These tubesheets are used to support and isolate tubes in heat exchangers and boilers or to support filter elements. Besides,the tube sheet acts as a rigid barrier between the fluid within the tube and the shell or chamber surrounding the tube. It provides structural integrity, prevents fluid leakage, and allows efficient heat transfer between the pipe and the surrounding media.
ASTM A182/SAME SA182 This specification covers forged low alloy and stainless steel piping components for use in pressure systems. Included are flanges, fittings, valves, and similar parts to specified dimensions or to dimensional standards.It covers a range of stainless steel grades, including TP304, which is a commonly used grade for tube sheets in heat exchangers, boilers, and other pressure vessels.
Stainless steel tube sheets made from ASTM A182 TP304 are known for their excellent corrosion resistance, high strength, and durability. They are typically used to support and seal the tubes in a heat exchanger or other type of pressure vessel, providing a secure connection between the tubes and the shell. They are often used in high-temperature and high-pressure applications where the performance of the heat exchanger or pressure vessel is critical.
