For traditional dark and enclosed spaces such as stairs, glass railings can really help open the space and allow plenty of light. The glass guardrail is made of tough glass, strong and sturdy, and absolutely safe when used in the home. Choose how to fix the glass panel?
When installing a glass guardrail, you need to decide how to fix the glass panel to the bracket. You have two main options-channel or post. In order to achieve the frameless glass railing effect, the glass panels can be fixed in place through metal channels embedded in the floor. Since you need to cut into the current floor, this option may require more time and skill. On the bright side, you will get an uninterrupted view of the glass and you can enjoy the view.
Alternatively, the glass panel can be supported in place by a glass clamp connected to the railing post. The post itself need not be too large or unattractive. You can choose a slim and unobtrusive design made of stainless steel, wood, marble or stone. All these materials can be fixed with stainless steel glass clamps. Timber railing posts are a bit unusual because they are soft enough to screw glass clips directly in. For metal and stone railing posts, you need to punch holes.
How to install the glass clamp?
The key to remember when installing fixtures on glass panels is weight distribution. You need to ensure that the weight of the glass is evenly distributed along the length of the column and not heavier at the top or bottom. We recommend that you use 4 clamps per square meter of glass to ensure reliable support. Usually, people will fix the clamps on the top and bottom of the column. Just make sure they are exactly the same in every position.
If the clamp is installed correctly, there is no need to drill holes in the glass. Don't try to do this, because tempered glass can only be drilled in the early stages of production.
When purchasing a fixture, please check carefully whether the size is suitable for the thickness of the glass. Otherwise, the glass will be too loose in the fixing device to be fixed in place. It's too tight, and glass doesn't fit at all. Most clamps have adjustable screws, so you can tighten the clamps to the proper position around the glass panel. They usually also have rubber gaskets that can stretch around the glass during installation and then spring back into place.
We recommend that you gradually tighten the glass clamps on a piece of glass at the same time. If you tighten one completely, the glass may begin to bend or even break. By performing a little operation around the panel at a time, the pressure is evenly distributed.
