High yield strength and tensile strength at high temperature; Good formability and weldability, and adequate machinability.

1.S30815 compared with 310S, 1Cr20Ni14Si2, better performance, Ni, cheap.

Solution annealing 1020-1120ºC. Holding time at solution annealing temperature approx. 30 min., followed by rapid cooling in air or water.
Corrosion Resistance
Although not designed for aqueous corrosion resistance the high chromium and nitrogen contents give the grade a pitting resistance approximating that of 316. 253MA does however have a high carbon content so is highly susceptible to sensitisation from welding or service exposure.
