ASTM A516 Standard Specification for Pressure Vessel Plates, Carbon Steel, for Moderate- and Lower-Temperature Service

This specification covers carbon steel plates intended primarily for service in welded pressure vessels where improved notch toughness is important. According to different strength levels, the plates are available in four grades: Grades 55, 60, 65, and 70. The maximum thickness of plates is limited only by the capacity of the composition to meet the specified mechanical property requirements. The steel shall be killed and shall conform to fine austenitic grain size requirements. The mechanical properties such as tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation shall be determined by a tension test for the plates.

A516 Gr70 is an American standard low temperature pressure vessel steel plate. The tensile strength is greater than 482MPa. The main element content is C Mn Si, p and s control determines its performance. Other trace elements are rare. What is Hot rolled?

Using continuous casting slabs or preliminary rolled slabs as raw materials, heated by a step-type heating furnace, high-pressure water dephosphorization enters the rough rolling mill, the rough rolling material is cut through the head, tail, and then into the finishing mill, and computer controlled rolling is implemented. After the final rolling, it is coiled by laminar cooling (computer-controlled cooling rate) and coiler to become a straight hair coil. Straight hair curls tend to have tongue and fishtail shapes, with poor thickness and width accuracy, and often have defects such as wave, hem, and tower.
