Sewer camera inspection is a powerful diagnostic service tool only to help you take action when needed. It is similar to Colonoscopy but for your sewer pipe system. You’ll see everything that’s there on a digital monitor so you can make an informed decision about your pipes.
Here are Some Benefits of Sewer Pipe Line Video Camera Inspection.
find out the nature of the sewer problem (examples: roots, broken pipe, collapsed joint, etc)
find out the severity of the pipeline problem (a new developing problem, or its critical condition)
find out the location of the problem (front yard, side of the house, near the sidewalk, etc.)
find out the depth of the problem (how deep is it, 2 feet or 8 feet or more?)
The common sewer camera inspection steps have been mentioned next for a better understanding of this service:
The professional will send a fiber optic flexible video camera down the drain/pipes through the problematic sewer line first.
After the sewer inspection process, the professionals will discuss with the client/customer the problem at hand and also the appropriate step they will take in order to correct the problems.
The lightweight, waterproof case combines camera, monitor, accessories in an all-in-one package. Seperated pack the reel, that will not dirty the main machine. You get a large 7” LCD color monitor that swivels to give you the best viewing angle, wherever you’re working.
Pipe inspection cameras are essential to any pipeline or sewer inspection. Those in the plumbing industry know technicians must locate the source of trouble in pipes before beginning repairs. This step not only saves you time and effort, it builds trust with your customers.
According to Plumber Magazine, “Just as patients expect to see the X-ray before the operation, plumbing customers increasingly want to see “proof” of the problem before the repair.” Pipe inspection cameras allow you to locate and diagnose plumbing problems quickly, ensuring your customers get the optimal repair. Faster and shorter projects also means you will get to serve even more customers.
Obviously, these pieces of equipment are a must-have for any plumber.
Before we share our favorite borescopes in the plumbing industry, it’s important we cover the basics on pipe inspection cameras.
A pipe inspection camera, also called a sewer inspection camera or plumbers camera, is a type of borescope typically used in the plumbing industry to inspect sewer systems and pipelines. These devices feature a high-resolution camera mounted to an insertion tube or a flexible rod, allowing the operator to insert the inspection system into hard-to-reach spaces.
The mobility and image-capture abilities of a pipe inspection camera enable a thorough inspection, even when examining isolated areas. This could include pipes behind walls, pipes encased in concrete or plumbing systems beneath home foundations. Plumbing jobs may also call for sewer inspections, meaning you may need to examine underground sewer lines. Employing a pipe inspection camera means you can pinpoint the problem area without excavating plumbing and sewer systems, avoiding costly and labor-intensive inspections.
Though pipe inspection cameras are favored by the plumbing industry for their ability to detect cracks, find blockages and spot leaks, they can also be used by other maintenance professionals.
The purpose of a sewer camera is to be able to see what’s causing a blockage or backup within the sewer pipe without digging up the yard or just guessing what the problem is. Because sewer repairs and pipe replacements are no small task, this helps homeowners avoid expensive repairs without knowing for certain that their problem will be solved when the work is done.
A tiny, flexible sewer camera is attached to a snake-like cable that plumbers feed through the sewer pipe until it reaches the cause of the clog (or break in the line). A radio transmitter on the camera records the physical location of the line and depth from the surface, telling the plumber where the blockage is and what work needs to be done to fix it.
Sewer cameras are not bullet proof, a sewer camera during normal use is subjected to difficult environments. Even during normal use, wear and tear damage requiring repair should be expected. The need for repairs can be minimized by treating the camera system as a precision piece of equipment.
Always use the protective skid. Using the camera without the protective camera head skid will eventually cause a camera head failure, this damage will occur more rapidly in pipes with a rough interior surface such as old cast iron pipes.
The push cable is made of fiberglass, this cable is a smaller diameter (5.2 mm) than some competing camera systems. The system is designed this way to allow more flexibility for turns and bends. However, do not force the push rod, if the camera has stopped moving and you continue to push/feed the cable into the pipe, the push rod cable can fold up on itself, if this occurs, damage to the fiberglass will occur. Sometimes the cable will kink or completely shear, other times underlying/hidden damage has occurred that will not be discovered until another use of the system.
Protect the flexible camera head spring, if you force the camera head spring past a sharp edge, or through tree roots or a line restriction, on retrieval the spring might catch and be kinked or stretched, in most cases this will require replacement of the camera head.
The most common required repairs are damaged camera heads (used without protective skid), damaged flex springs and damaged push rod cables (kinked or broken).
