Appearance and physical characteristics:

  • It may take on a solid form at room temperature, with certain hardness and appearance characteristics, which may vary depending on the composition of the material. The color also varies, and may be white, gray, or other colors. From the perspective of microstructure, its molecular arrangement has a certain order, and this structural characteristic allows it to undergo phase transformation at a specific temperature.
  • When the temperature reaches 110°C, it gradually changes from a solid state to a liquid state (or perhaps some other form of phase transition, such as from one crystal structure to another). During the phase transition, the volume may change, generally increasing from solid to liquid. Its density also changes with the change of state, with a relatively high density in the state and a decrease in the density when it becomes a liquid.

 

 

Thermal properties:

1. Phase change characteristics

  • 110°C is its critical phase change temperature. When this temperature is reached, it absorbs a large amount of heat, a process that mainly makes use of the latent heat of phase change. Compared to general materials that absorb sensible heat through temperature increases, PCM absorbs much more heat during phase change. For example, when it transitions from a solid state to a liquid state, it absorbs a lot of heat, but the temperature remains relatively stable at around 110°C, which is important for equipment or systems that require precise temperature control.
  • When the temperature drops from above 110°C, it gradually changes from liquid back to solid, releasing previously absorbed heat, a reversible phase change process that allows it to be recycled over and over again for heat storage and release.

2. Thermal conductivity

  • It has a certain thermal conductivity of its own, which determines the speed at which heat is transferred inside the material. The magnitude of the thermal conductivity affects its efficiency of endothermic and exothermic discharge. If the thermal conductivity is high, it can quickly absorb heat and make a phase change when it comes into contact with a heat source.
  • When heat is released, it can also transfer heat to surrounding objects or the environment that needs to be heated more quickly. However, there are cases where it may be necessary to optimize its thermal conductivity, such as by adding some thermally conductive reinforcements to improve its thermal conductivity.

 

 

Application scenarios:

1. In the field of electronic equipment

  • Some high-power electronic components generate a lot of heat when they work, which may reach temperatures close to 110°C. The 110°C thermal management PCM is applied to the heat dissipation of these components, and when the temperature of the components rises to the phase change temperature, the PCM begins to absorb heat, thereby maintaining the temperature of the components within the appropriate range, preventing damage to the components due to overheating, and ensuring the performance and stability of electronic devices.
  • For example, in the processor heat dissipation of some high-end servers, this PCM can effectively absorb the high heat generated by the processor while it is running.

2. In industrial production

  • Some industrial processes may involve temperature control around 110°C. For example, in some chemical reactions, the reaction needs to be carried out at a specific temperature, and 110°C thermal management PCM can be used as a thermal buffer material to maintain the temperature stability of the reaction system by absorbing or releasing heat, ensuring the smooth progress of the reaction and product quality.
  • In some manufacturing processes, such as plastic molding, the temperature control of the mold is critical to the quality of the product. PCM can be integrated into the mold, and when the mold temperature rises to around 110°C, the PCM phase change absorbs heat and prevents the mold from overheating, thus guaranteeing the dimensional accuracy and surface quality of the product.
