The surface treatment of iron mold generally has the following ways and characteristics:
(1) The mould cavity is directly polished with different thickness of sand to make it smooth. It is commonly used in general rotational molding products, such as the large water tanks, chemical barrels and others. This method owns several advantages including the labor and material saving, low production cost, convenient and efficient, and less deformation of product. However, its disadvantages are also obvious: the rough surface, unsmooth demoulding, low grade impression of molding products;
(2) Mirror polishing is suitable for rotational molding products with high appearance requirements as well as the upgrading of conventional rotational molding products. The advantages are that the surface of the product is beautiful and the demoulding is smooth, which is helpful to improve the product grade. The disadvantages are high production cost, time-consuming, large deformation and easy scratched.
