The BNC connector, also known as the Bayonet NeillThe BNC connector, also known as the Bayonet Neill-Concelman connector, is a small, fast connect/disconnect RF connector used for coaxial cables. It features two bayonet lugs on the female connector that can be mated with just a quarter turn of the coupling nut. BNC connectors are ideal for terminating miniature-to-subminiature coaxial cables such as RG-58, 59, to RG-179, RG-316. They are commonly used in radio, television, and other radio-frequency electronic equipment, test instruments, video signals, and were once a popular connector for 10BASE2 computer networks. BNC connectors are designed to match the characteristic impedance of cables at either 50Ohms or 75Ohms. They work well in lower microwave frequency applications such as monitors, LAN, telecommunication devices, and test equipment. The BNC connector has a bayonet structure coupling for mating and was developed according to MIL-C-39012/16-24l. It can be interchanged with the same-type connectors from abroad, enabling rapid engagement and disengagement. It is used to connect coaxial cables in radio equipment and instruments.
