Heavy Duty LIFO Double Deep Pallet Rack Systems for High-Density Storage
Double deep pallet racking system is similar to selective racking system but with two units of deep racks. Compared with the selective racking system, it increases storage density but decreases cargo selectivity. And a specialized truck is needed for the storage and retrieval of the inner pallets.
It is best suited for goods that don’t require FIFO inventory rotation. In double deep pallet racking, goods units are stored mechanically by forklift trucks which move along parallel aisles of the racking system.

In this system, pallets are stored in two depths, allowing greater storage density while keeping access to the pallets simple and relatively quick. Unlike selective pallet racking, in double-deep pallet racking system, operators are not able to get direct access to all pallet stock.
Double deep pallet racking must use special forklifts prepared for this type of system, which is equipped with telescopic forks or specially designed pantograph mechanisms to access the second pallet correctly.
This is an efficient and powerful system that is easy to assemble and adjust to load levels. In addition, it is an adjustable pallet racking, perfectly adapted to different weights or volumes of goods.
How does double deep pallet racking system work?
The double deep pallet racking system increases the available storage space by simply storing pallets in two depths instead of one compared with the selective pallet racking system.
Two pallets are accessed from the same aisle, reducing the number of aisles by half compared to the selective pallet racking system.
In summary, double-deep racking increases the storage density of a warehouse by reducing the number of aisles to leave more space for storage.
Since direct access can only be used for front unit loads, this double-deep LIFO inventory management system is recommended for storing identical or highly rotated products with several pallets per SKU.
