The hazards of magnesium deficiency in crops
Poaceae: Magnesium deficiency in Poaceae is characterized by yellowing of crop leaves without discoloration of leaf veins, reduction of capillary roots during growth, drying of grains during maturity, and decreased yield.


Leguminous: When leguminous crops lack magnesium, the early mesophyll cells of the old leaves turn yellow, and in severe cases, brown spots appear on the leaves, which eventually wither. Maturity can lead to a decrease in yield, a decrease in protein and oil content in seeds, and a decrease in nutritional content. The use of magnesium nitrate in agriculture is essential. It is widely used in planting of coffee. 


Eggplant fruit: When eggplant fruit crops/vegetables lack magnesium elements, yellow spots appear on the old leaves of the plant, and the yellow spots tightly adhere, causing abnormal growth of stamens and affecting pollination rate. Maturity can lead to eggplant fruit deformities, decreased nutritional content, and decreased fruit marketability. Plant retention lacks magnesium and has a low germination rate due to dry seeds.


Other crops: apple, jujube, pear and other fruit trees may also experience magnesium deficiency symptoms. Its symptoms mainly appear on the leaves, and in severe cases, it affects the yield and quality of crops. In addition, cotton is also a crop sensitive to magnesium.
