POE-216T is an 16 port channels unmanaged Power Over Ethernet Switch that with 16 10/100Mbit RJ45 PoE ports, 2 Gigabit Copper and 2 SFP Combo uplink ports, which is compliance with IEEE802.3af standard, and it has a 400watts power supply built-in. Power Over Ethernet (POE), as might be expect, describes the use of a single Ethernet cable(standard gauge cat5, cat5e or cat6, etc.) to carry electrical power along with Ethernet data.
There are total 16 output channels PoE, a single port output up to 25.4W, which is suitable for devices such as IP Video Camera, Wireless Access Point (AP), Access Control, VoIP, etc., they are also known as Powered Device (PD). So, before the PD is powered up, there is a procedure for Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) built in PoE to implement compatibility checking. The PD must reply a signature for PSE to check if it's PoE-enabled for the PoE connection, which take place a few seconds before power is switched on. It also executes a power classification after first signature detection process, which will figure out how much the connected PDs require(Power Class up to approximately 4, 7 and 13 watts), and the power connection will be automatically cut when the PDs are disconnected or in incorrect installation, which prevents damages of overload, underpowring, short-cut or connecting a Non-PoE device.
Finally, this 16 ways PoE switch will greatly reduces the comprehensive cost including cables, labour force, time, management and broken device results from incorrecting installing if no PoE connection. On the other hand, its 7.2Gbps switching capacity effectively relieve the office network cngestion and improve working effeciency.
