Why are there small holes in the shrink capsules?

1. Exhaust

These small holes can be used for exhausting when capping. This slow oxidation not only enables the wine to develop more complex flavors, but also prolongs its life.

3. Moisturizing

We all know that in addition to paying attention to light, temperature, and placement, the preservation of wine also requires humidity. This is because the cork is shrinkable. If the humidity is too low, the cork will become very dry and the airtightness will become poor, which may cause a large amount of air to enter the wine bottle to accelerate the oxidation of the wine and affect the quality of the wine. The small holes in the bottle seal can keep the upper part of the cork at a certain humidity and maintain its airtight performance.

Not all wine shrink caps have small holes:

The wine bottle sealed with a screw cap has no holes. Some wine merchants use screw caps in order to preserve the floral and fruity aromas in the wine. There is very little or no air entering the bottle, which can inhibit the oxidation process of the wine (after aging in the bottle, the floral and fruity aroma will gradually disappear). The screw cap does not have the ventilation function of the cork, so it does not need to be punched.
