Lithium-ion (lithium-ion) batteries are the primary method of powering the EPOCH-600 600. This battery is installed on every instrument. When properly maintained, the lithium-ion battery should provide 12 to 13 hours of continuous operation when the instrument is operated under typical inspection conditions.

The EPOCH 600 uses a standard rechargeable lithium-ion (lithium-ion) battery (P/N: 600-BAT-L [U8760056]). You can also rely on standard alkaline batteries for extended portable use.

Notice:

Use only Olympus rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack (P/N: 600-BAT-L [U8760056]) with the EPOCH 600 instrument. Use of any other battery may cause death or serious personal injury due to explosion while charging the battery

The battery charge indicator is always located near the lower right corner of the active instrument display (see Figure 4-3 on page 73). The battery charge indicator contains a visual level representation of remaining battery life. The battery charging indicator shows accurately after 5 to 10 minutes of use

Charging the battery

The EPOCH 600 charger/adapter is designed to charge EPOCH 600 batteries only (P/N: 600-BAT-L [U8760056]). Do not attempt to charge any other batteries, including alkaline batteries using the battery tray (Product Number: 600-BAT-AA [U8780295]), or use any other charger/adapter. Doing so may cause an explosion or injury

EPOCH 600 batteries can be charged internally using a charger/adapter, or externally using the optional stand-alone battery charger (P/N: EPXT-EC-X). External battery charging is useful for recharging the battery. For more information about this external charger, please contact Olympus or your local sales representative.

When the EPOCH 600 is connected to AC power and turned on, the battery indicator light displays a lightning bolt symbol instead of showing remaining battery life in percentage.

Install or replace the lithium-ion battery

1. Unfold the instrument tube bracket.

2. On the back of the instrument, loosen the two thumb screws that secure the battery compartment cover).

3. Remove the battery compartment cover.

4. Remove the battery and/or install the battery in the battery compartment

5. Make sure the gasket of the battery compartment cover is clean and in good condition.

6. Install the battery compartment cover on the back of the meter and tighten the two thumb screws to complete the installation
