ProSoft Technology MVI56-MCM module is a Modbus communication module that has been manufactured for the ControlLogix platform. This communication module needs at least 128 MB of RAM for operation, but 256 MB of RAM is recommended. It should also have at least 100 MB of hard disk space that is free for application data storage. The MVI56-MCM Modbus communication module is compatible with the Windows XP Professional, Windows 2000 Professional, and the Windows Server 2003 operating systems from Microsoft. It can be programmed with the Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation RSLogix 5000 programming software in version 2.51 or higher and it can communicate with other devices through the Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation RSLinx communication software.
ProSoft Technology MVI56-MCM Modbus communication module is connected to the ControlLogix platform with an Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation ControlLogix processor that has a power supply. The ControlLogix processor needs to have 1 free slot in its rack for the MVI56-MCM Modbus communication module, and this module needs 800 milliamps of backplane power to operate. This communication module can be installed in a local ControlLogix rack or a remote ControlLogix rack, but if it is installed in a remote rack, it needs to use the Ethernet/IP or ControlNet network to communicate with the ControlLogix processor. The MVI56-MCM Modbus communication module comes with cables and an adapter device to make it as easy as possible to install right away. This module is rated for safe operation in Class 1, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, and D environments by the cULus standard. Its operating temperature range is 32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
