Croduct Description

 

 

 

Central loose tube type

The fiber is protected by a sealed, water-resistant stainless steel tube filled with water-blocking gel during installation and operation in harsh environments. An optional aluminum layer can be added over the tube. The stainless optical tube is located at the cable's center and surrounded by compact aluminum-clad steel and aluminum alloy wires shaped trapezoidally. These metallic wires provide mechanical strength to withstand severe installation and operating conditions while controlling temperature rise during short circuit conditions.

Multiple loose tube type

The fibers are placed loosely in a sealed, water-resistant stainless steel tube filled with water-blocking gel. Multiple stainless steel optical tubes are helically stranded in the inner layer of the cable. This multiple loose tube design is suitable for fiber counts exceeding 48, with a maximum count of 144. It can meet the requirements for high cross and current capacities.

 

Application

The Optical Fiber Composite Ground Wire (OPGW) serves a dual purpose as both a ground wire and communication cable, making it ideal for installation on new power lines, especially normal and extra high-voltage lines. It can also replace conventional ground wires on older power lines to enhance fiber communication capabilities and provide lightning resistance. OPGW cables are mainly used in power lines over 110KV, with longer spans typically exceeding 250 meters. Its applications are limited by power cuts, security concerns, and other factors, and it is mostly used on new lines in 500KV, 220KV, and 110KV systems.

 

Features

The cable has up to 144 fibers and is approximately the same diameter and weight as another ground wire, minimizing additional load to the tower while providing high tensile strength. The fibers are protected by stainless steel tubes and the excellent stranding technology allows them to move freely within the tube, keeping them stress-free during longitudinal stress. This design also provides excellent security and good bullet resistance. The cable's ACSW, AAW, and SST stranded design offers a wide range of combinations for electrical conductivity and mechanical tensile strength.
