1. Description of 99.95% Pure Tungsten Electrode For Argon Arc Welding:
Pure tungsten electrode is the earliest electrode used in argon arc welding(TIG welding), but under DC welding conditions, this type of electrode is prone to arc failure or unstable maintenance. This scenario can be significantly improved by adding rare earth oxides. Therefore, pure tungsten electrodes Tungsten electrodes are only used as welding electrodes under AC conditions or as resistance welding electrodes.
Pure tungsten electrodes contain a minimum of 99.95% tungsten and no alloying elements. Pure tungsten has a very high electron work function, so compared with other alloy tungsten electrodes, pure tungsten electrodes are more difficult to start the arc and maintain the stability of the arc beam. In addition, due to the higher electron work function, the electrode tip temperature is higher and grain growth is prone to occur, which will lead to unstable arc beam, more difficult arc starting, and shorter service life. Pure tungsten is only used for AC welding, however, decent DC is also available.
