Alloy 2304 stainless steel is composed of a duplex stainless alloy containing 23% chrome and 4% Nickel.

 

The corrosion resistance of alloy 2304 is comparable to that of 316L.

Its mechanical properties are also twice as good, in terms of yield strength, than the austenite 304L/316L grade.

When designing products, this feature allows designers, to reduce the weight, particularly pressure vessels.

This alloy is especially suitable for temperatures between -50degC and +300degC. (-58degF/572degF).

Under strict conditions, it can be used even at lower temperatures (especially in the case of welded structures).

Due to its dual-phase microstructure and lower nickel and higher chromium contents, 2304 alloy is more resistant to stress corrosion than 304 or 316 austenite.
