Information

Torsion springs are the components that upon twisting, exert a force in the opposite direction. This force is directly proportional to the twisting. When twisted, these springs store mechanical energy. When released, these springs come back to their original position.

The torsion springs are helical shaped springs that are capable of producing torsional or rotational forces. Based on the application for which they are used, these springs are either clockwise or anti-clockwise wound. Thus, depending on its use, these springs have a capability to work in both the directions.

Parameters

d (spring wire diameter): This parameter describes the diameter of the spring wire.

Dd (maximum diameter of mandrel): This parameter describes the maximum diameter of the spring shaft in industrial applications, with a tolerance of ±2%.

Di (inner diameter): The inner diameter of the spring is equal to the outer diameter minus twice the wire diameter. During the working process of the torsion spring, the inner diameter can be reduced to the diameter of the mandrel,

The inner diameter tolerance is ±2%.

De (outer diameter): equal to the inner diameter plus twice the wire diameter. During the working process of the torsion spring, the outer diameter will become smaller, with a tolerance of (±2%±0.1) mm.

L0 (natural length): Note: the natural length will be reduced during the working process, with a tolerance of ±2%.

Ls (support length): This is the length from the central axis of the spring coil body to the spring support, with a tolerance of ±2%.

An (maximum torsion angle): the maximum torsion angle of the torsion spring, with a tolerance of ±15 degrees.

Fn (maximum load): the maximum force allowed to act on the torsion spring support, with a tolerance of ±15%.

Mn (Maximum Torque): Maximum allowable torque (Newton*mm), tolerance ±15%.

R (spring stiffness): This parameter determines the resistance of the spring when it works. The unit is Newton*mm/degree, and the tolerance is ±15%.

A1&F1&M1: (torsion angle, load and torque): The following formula can calculate the torsion angle A1=M1/R. Knowing the load, the formula M=F*Ls can be used to calculate the torque.

Support position: The support of torsion spring has four positions: 0°, 90°, 180° and 270°

Spiral direction: the right-handed spring rotates counterclockwise, the left-handed spring rotates clockwise.
