ong radius elbow refers to that the radius of curvature of elbow is 1.5 times of pipe diameter; if it is greater than 1.5 times, it is the category of elbow. The long radius is the most commonly used one. Generally, it is also a long radius by default. For places with high pressure or high flow velocity, the elbow with larger radius should be used if the resistance requirements of solid conveying pipeline are strict.
Short radius is usually used in low-pressure fluid or elbow is used in limited installation. Long radius elbow is preferred if there are no conditions or are not specified in the contract.

Technical requirement
The radius of curvature is required to be controlled. For example, if the radius length is 1.5D, then the radius of curvature must be within the required tolerance range. Since most of these pipe fittings are used for welding, in order to improve the welding quality, the ends are chamfered with a certain angle and a certain edge. This requirement is also quite strict. The thickness of the side, the angle and the deviation range are specified. There are many more items in the geometric dimension than the pipe fittings. The surface quality and mechanical properties of elbows are basically the same as those of pipes. For the convenience of welding, the material of the steel used for connecting the pipe should be the same.
