Characteristics of reverse osmosis membrane biofouling
The biofouling of reverse osmosis membranes is difficult to thoroughly clean mainly because the content of microorganisms including bacteria, algae, fungi and their viruses in water is very large and grows rapidly. Once a bacterial community appears on the membrane surface, a slime film will soon be formed. At the same time, the biological slime film is insoluble in acid and insoluble in alkali, and cannot be easily removed even if it is frequently washed with cement. However, if the biological fouling of the reverse osmosis membrane is not cleaned in time, it will easily cause the system inlet water pressure to increase, the pressure difference to increase, and the water production to decrease. Generally speaking, the first reverse osmosis membrane is seriously polluted by organisms, and the membrane surface and flow channel pollution will occur at the same time. Once we find that any position of our reverse osmosis membrane is generally because the pressure difference of the front-end element increases rapidly, the feed water pressure rises rapidly , if the salt transmission rate generally increases, it is necessary to consider whether the membrane element is subject to biological fouling.
