Classification of Rubber Fender
Generally, rubber fenders can be divided into two categories according to the structure: solid rubber fenders (non-floating type) and floating rubber fenders.
The solid rubber fender (non-floating type) is anti-collision equipment for dock ships with earlier application history and a wide range of applications. According to the force of the rubber fender, it can be divided into shear type, rotating type, and compression type; according to the structure of the fender, solid rubber fender can be divided into D type, cone, drum, sector, rectangle, cylinder Shaped fenders and so on.
Floating rubber fenders can float freely on the water surface, and can be divided into inflatable rubber fenders and filled rubber fenders according to the different internal buffer media.
The inflatable rubber fender uses compressed air as the medium and uses compressed air to do work to consume collision energy.
Foam-filled fenders are also called solid polyurethane fenders. The cushioning medium inside is mainly closed-cell foam materials, such as foamed EVA, foamed polyurethane, and foamed rubber.
Features and applications of Rubber Fender
The solid rubber fender has high energy absorption and reaction force, and at the same time has the advantages of low cost, long service life, simple installation, and maintenance, etc. It is a protective device with more installations in docks and docks.
Floating rubber fender is a relatively new type of fender equipment. Compared with a solid rubber fender, its main features are large compression deformation, large energy absorption, small reaction force, self-floating, and easy installation.
Usually used in ship to ship (ship to ship), ship to wharf (ship to the wharf) barge, docking, and other occasions; due to its self-floating characteristics, it is also particularly suitable for installation on the wharf where the tide level changes greatly.
Among them, the filled rubber fender is especially suitable for applications in harsh environments, such as offshore drilling platforms, due to its maintenance-free and long-life advantages.
