Overview

The natural cooling chiller is a refrigeration equipment that uses outdoor low-temperature cold sources to reduce energy consumption. It uses outdoor low-temperature air, water or other low-temperature media to cool circulating chilled water, thereby reducing or completely eliminating the need to turn on the compressor for refrigeration and achieving energy saving.

The working principle of the natural cooling chiller is to use a specially designed air-chilled water heat exchange coil. When the outdoor temperature is lower than the return water temperature, the cooling coil automatically starts and uses outdoor cold air to cool the return water. When the outdoor temperature is much lower than the return water temperature, the compressor can stop working completely and rely only on natural cooling to provide cooling capacity.

The main advantage of free cooling chillers is significant energy savings. In spring, autumn and winter, outdoor low-temperature air can be used to pre-cool the chilled water, reducing the running time of the compressor and thus reducing power consumption. In addition, this kind of unit does not require special machine rooms, cooling towers, water pumps and other equipment, and the installation and maintenance costs are low.

Natural cooling chillers are suitable for data centers, production processes and other places that require year-round cooling. In seasons when outdoor temperatures are low, natural cooling chillers can significantly reduce operating costs and improve energy efficiency.
