In fact, for Street Lights, higher efficiency and longer life are essential to reduce costs. Switching power supplies designed to power LED lights must also be efficient and durable to ensure that they have the same maintenance-free life as LED lights. Resonant converters are one of the most popular power topologies here because their performance leads to higher power efficiency and reduced EMI compared to previous power topologies. Soft-switching is an important characteristic of resonant converter. But using a body diode in a resonant converter can sometimes cause a system to fail. The charge stored in the parasitic diode must be completely removed to avoid large current and voltage spikes, including high dv/dt and high di/dt in the topology. Therefore, key power MOSFET parameters such as QRR and reverse recovery dv/dt will directly affect the dynamic performance of resonant converter.
