Requirement/Limits:

All goods shall comply with the below general requirements:

a) All Markings shall be in “Arabic” or “English” or both “Arabic & English” as applicable after reference to the specific Saudi standard for each product (*)

b) All markings shall contain the following details:

 Description/Name of Product- In Arabic -as applicable after reference to the specific Saudi standard for each product (*)

 Name of Manufacturer or his trademark

 Name & Address of the person (company) responsible for marketing of the product (if different from the manufacturer)

 Date of Production

 Net Content in Volume or Mass (metric system) unless below 5 g or 5 ml.

 Country of Origin

 Instruction for use and storage and any warning requirement related to the product. - always in Arabic (*)

c) Country of Origin (CoO) marking shall comply as below:

- CoO must be specified as ‘Made in <country>’, mentioning the complete country name. For e.g. products manufactured in China must be labeled as ‘Made in China’. Products labeled as ‘Made in P.R.C’ are not acceptable.

- CoO must be non-removable (either engraved or printed with indelible ink) and both the principal product as well as the external retail packaging must bear this information. Each package within a pallet shall bear the CoO.

- CoO must be specified on the Certificate of Origin. If one package includes items manufactured in various countries, then origin of each country shall be indicated on the Certificate of origin.

- CoO is applicable to all shipments (air/land/sea) and all products (irrespective of whether it will be sold or given free of charge).

- Only the country where the product is manufactured must be mentioned. Goods having more than one country mentioned on the product label (for e.g. product label stating CoO as ‘Made in Belgium’ followed by company head office address in Germany will be rejected at Saudi customs.

- Saudi customs consider the country of assembly as the country of origin. For e.g. if the parts of a machine are manufactured in Switzerland and assembled in China then the machine must be labeled as ‘Made in China’.

The following shall not be considered as ingredients:

- Impurities in Raw Material

- Subsidiary Raw Material used in the preparation but not present in the final product

- Material used in strictly quantities as solvents or as carrier for perfume and aromatics compositions.

d) If a product is perfumed it, must be specified by the label “PERFUME” or “AROMA”.

e) Pressurized containers should be declared.

f) All electrical goods must be legibly and indelibly marked (paper stickers are not acceptable) with below information:

- Manufacturer’s name

- Product name / description

- Model number

- Country of origin

- Voltage rating

- Frequency rating

- Power rating (if applicable)

(*) “Arabic” or “English” or both are acceptable for shipping marks; for product labelling, English is also acceptable unless the specific standard requires it to be in Arabic. The language requirement per type of products is given by the Certification Center upon revision of the standard. However, it should be noted that the instructions for use and any warning statements can be in Arabic or in English if the standard doesn’t specify the required language.
