China ROHS certification is a certification promoted by the country to control and reduce environmental pollution caused by discarded electronic information products. The purpose of the national ROHS certification is to reduce or eliminate six substances including lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers in electronic information products. The nationally promoted RoHS certification system adopts the principles of a unified product catalog, unified certification technical specifications, certification rules and conformity assessment procedures, and a unified mark.

In 2018, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology and other nine ministries and commissions compiled the "Management Catalog for Restricted Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products (First Batch)" and the "Exception List for the Application of Restricted Substances in the Catalog for Standards Management", requiring that for products included in the catalog, The contents of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers should comply with the relevant standards for the restricted use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products, and be included in the management scope of the conformity assessment management system for the display and use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products.

The national ROHS will be enforced on November 1, 2019. All products in the "Electrical and Electronic Products Restricted Use of Hazardous Substances Compliance Management Catalog (First Batch)" should meet the requirements of the national ROHS regulations.

Nationally promoted ROHS certified laboratory institution

Only laboratories authorized by the Certification and Accreditation Administration to conduct national RoHS certification inspections can undertake the inspection work. The first batch of ROHS mandatory products (12 categories) promoted by the country: refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines, electric water heaters, printers, copiers, fax machines, televisions, monitors (including monitors, display screens, etc.), microcomputers (including Desktop computers, notebooks, tablets and other PCs), mobile communication handsets, stand-alone telephones.

The national ROHS certificate covering 12 categories of products is valid for 5 years and requires regular supervision and spot inspections every year.
