Certification introduction
India WPC (Wireless Planning & Coordination Wing) is the agency that regulates wireless regulations in India. All wireless products must obtain WPC approval before entering the market. Frequency bands in India are divided into two categories: free and open and not yet open. For free and open frequency bands, such equipment only needs to apply for an ETA (equipment type approval) certificate; for other frequency bands that are not free and open, you need to apply for a license. Both ETA and license holders must be locally registered companies. Based on CE R&TTE or FCC ID (local Indian standard), 2G/3G/4G requires mobile operators to apply.
WPC certification basic information
· Mandatory certification
· No factory inspection required
· Sample testing is required, or no sample is required if the CE RF report can be provided
· No local testing required
· Local representative required
· Certification cycle 3-4 weeks
·The certificate is valid for a long time
Specifically, any wireless transmission less than 3000 Ghz that does not use manual control is considered "wireless communication" as defined by the WPC. These frequency bands fall under WPC control. That is, wireless transmissions with frequencies above 3000 Ghz (such as infrared) are not considered "wireless communications". WPC certification does not control these frequency bands. Since India has two types of frequency bands: free and unopened, wireless communication products whose frequency bands and output power fall within the control range need to apply for an ETA certificate from WPC. In addition, ETA holders must be locally registered companies. In addition, WPC accepts the conversion of RF reports from CE reports to WPC certification without providing samples and testing.
All wireless devices that can operate in approved frequency bands. The following bands are free:
1.2.40 to 2.4835 GHz
2.5.15 to 5.350 GHz
3.5.725 to 5.825 GHz
4.5.825 to 5.875 GHz
5.402 to 405 MHz
6.865 to 867 MHz
7.26.957 – 27.283 MHz
8.335 MHz for remote control of crane
9.20 to 200 KHz.
10.13.56MHz
11.433 to 434 MHz
WPC certification requirements
Wireless product certification in India can be divided into two modes: ETA (Equipment Type of Approval) certification and License. The basis for determination comes from the working frequency band used by the applied equipment. For free and open frequency bands such as 13.56 MHz, 433MHz, 2.4GHz, 5.725-5.825 GHz, etc., you need to apply for ETA certification; if the device uses other non-free and open frequency bands, such as GSM, WCDMA mobile phones, etc., you need to apply for a license.
For ETA certification, India recognizes European standards, and WPC signs the certificate through an audit report. As for the License license, it needs to meet Indian standard requirements.
For ETA application, the product does not need to be sent to India for testing. The product can submit an approval application to WPC with an R&TTE report.
Applicable product range
Equipment with a radio transmitter. These include mobile (GSM or WCDMA) handsets, wireless local area network (WLAN) devices such as Wi-Fi devices, Bluetooth devices, Zigbee devices, WiMAX devices, RFID devices, contactless smart card readers, and combined with some other RF transmitters device products. Also only the receiver does not require a WPC certificate, such as GPS products.
application process
1. The customer submits samples and materials, and submits the application to LCS;
2. Submit the CE RED report and related documents to WPC (if there is no CE RED report, NTEK is responsible for testing and issuing a CE RED test report);
3. WPC review and issue ETA certificate after passing.
Application materials
1. Product RF test report (provided by the testing laboratory in accordance with EN 300 328 standards);
2. Product technical data sheet;
3. Authorization and agreement from foreign manufacturers.
Certification Category
ETA (Equipment Type of Approval) certification: free and open frequency bands such as 13.56 MHz, 433MHz, 2.4GHz, 5.725-5.825 GHz, etc.;
License: Non-free and open frequency bands, such as GSM and WCDMA mobile phones.
For ETA certification, India recognizes European standards, and WPC signs the certificate through an audit report. As for the License license, it needs to meet Indian standard requirements.
For ETA application, the product does not need to be sent to India for testing. The product can submit an approval application to WPC with an R&TTE report.
