Brief Overview

The roller kiln is a conveying device composed of rows of parallel rollers that cross the cross section of the kiln working channel. The products are placed on the rollers and pushed into the kiln to complete the firing under the rotation of the rollers.

It is divided into ceramic roller kilns, electric porcelain roller kilns, and blue brick and blue tile roller kilns.

Advantages:

1. Uniform temperature, small temperature difference in the kiln; the kiln of the roller kiln is flat, the rollers can be heated up and down, the kiln structure is light, and it is easy to choose a full fiber lining.

2. Fast firing speed; 35-50 minutes for glazed tiles; 50-100 minutes for porcelain tiles, 8-10 hours for sanitary ware, 8 hours for iron oxidation; 12 hours for daily porcelain.

3. Low fuel consumption, saving fuel; fuel consumption for calcination in roller kilns: 200kcal/kg for bricks, 420kcal/kg for glazed tiles, 510kcal/kg for one-time fired tiles, and 750kcal/kg for sanitary ware.

4. Labor-saving and easy to operate; no kiln car is used in the roller kiln firing, and some only use refractory pads or no pads.

5. It is conducive to the mechanization and automation of the firing process (including loading and unloading of products), and is convenient for connecting the upper and lower processes.

Temperature:

a. Low temperature roller kiln; about 800℃ for color firing, about 1000℃ for bricks;

b. Medium temperature roller kiln; 1020-1100℃ for facing bricks; about 1150-1250℃ for floor tiles and daily-use ceramics; about 1250-1280℃ for sanitary ware;

c. High temperature roller kiln; 1300-1350℃ for daily-use porcelain, about 1350℃ for ferrites, and about 1600℃ for alumina ceramic substrates.

Roller rods

It is a very important component of the roller kiln. The material and calcination temperature of the roller rods determine the stability of the kiln operation. The material of the roller rods should have an antioxidant effect when the product is calcined at high temperature, that is, it should have high heat resistance. It is also required to maintain a small deformation under the weight of the roller rods and the load of the product when operating at high temperature continuously, so that the product can move in a straight line on the roller without deviation.

Commonly used roller rods are as follows:

a. Metal roller rods

Aluminum alloy roller rods can withstand temperatures of 500℃, 304 metal roller rods can withstand temperatures of 800℃, and 310 alloy roller rods can withstand temperatures of 1000℃.

b. Ceramic roller rods

(1) High aluminum roller rods, which are currently widely used, and the aluminum oxide content is generally around 75%.

(2) Silicon carbide roller rods Roller kilns with sintering temperatures reaching above 1300℃ generally use silicon carbide roller rods.

Uses:

a. Color firing, bisque firing, glaze firing and one-time firing of daily-use ceramics.

b. Firing of various building sanitary ceramics (such as building bricks, tiles, wall and floor tiles, sanitary ware, etc.).

c. Firing of electronic ceramics, abrasive tools, and new energy materials.

d. For special ceramics, the firing temperature of the roller kiln can be changed accordingly due to the different calcined products.
