1. Decompression process
When the solenoid valve passes a large current, the plunger moves to the upper end, the passage between the master cylinder and the wheel cylinder is cut off, and the wheel cylinder is connected to the hydraulic oil tank. The brake fluid from the wheel cylinders flows into the hydraulic tank, causing the brake pressure to drop.
At the same time, the drive motor starts to drive the pressure pump to work, pressurize the brake fluid that flows back to the hydraulic tank and deliver it to the master cylinder to prepare for the next braking cycle.
In order to prevent the brake pedal stroke from changing when the ABS is working, the hydraulic pump must be always on during the ABS working process.
2. Pressure holding process
When the solenoid valve passes a small current, the plunger will move, cutting off all the passages, so it is important to maintain the brake pressure.
3. Boosting process
After the solenoid valve is de-energized, the plunger returns to its original position. The master cylinder and the wheel cylinder meet again, and the high-pressure brake fluid from the master cylinder section and the brake fluid output from the hydraulic pump enter the wheel cylinder together, increasing the brake pressure. The speed of boost and decompression can be controlled directly through the inlet and outlet ports of the solenoid valve.
ABS has three significant disturbances compared to conventional hydraulic braking systems:
1. Vehicle control: The driver of a car equipped with ABS maintains a large degree of control during emergency braking. During emergency braking, the slip created with the standard hydraulic brakes caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. ABS restores stability and allows the driver to regain control of the vehicle.
2. Reduce the floating phenomenon: even if the wet, slippery roads and locked vehicles form a state called the floating phenomenon, when the driver of the vehicle drives on the road surface with a layer of water and oil thin mold, it will appear similar to the floating phenomenon. Since ABS reduces the chance of wheel locking, it also reduces the chance of slippage during braking.
3. Improved tire wear--use ABS to prevent wheels from locking, eliminating the possibility of tire flat spots during emergency braking.
