Grinding wheels made of CBN abrasives can be divided into the following four types according to the different processing processes and the different compositions of bonding agents used. Their properties and uses (referring to mechanical processing uses) are also different.

Super hard abrasives mainly refer to artificial diamond and cubic boron nitride, the main basis of super hard abrasives selection is determined by the nature of the workpiece material to be processed. Among them, artificial diamond abrasives are suitable for the processing of non-metallic hard and brittle materials: such as cemented carbide, glass, ceramics, semiconductor materials, magnetic materials, alloy cast iron, gemstones, stone, refractory materials, etc.; cubic boron nitride abrasives have good thermal stability and are chemically inert to ferrous metals, and are mainly suitable for the grinding and processing of hard and tough materials: such as high-speed steel, die steel, bearing steel, special alloy steel and other hard-to-grind materials. Cubic boron nitride (CBN) grinding wheel is suitable for processing the following kinds of materials: ① high manganese steel; ② high chromium, nickel, molybdenum alloy steel; ③ cold hard cast iron (HS80 ~ 90); ④ all kinds of hardened steel (HRC55 ~ 65); ⑤ all kinds of cast iron (HB200 ~ 400), etc., and has been in the domestic automobile (gear, flywheel, shaft, bearing processing), rolls, slurry pump (impeller, volute, guard, sheath, etc. processing), molds, cylinder sleeves; ⑥ glass, gemstones and other high hardness soft materials, and can improve the efficiency of the work to save significantly. CBN has a higher hardness than ordinary abrasives.
