Brake disc

How to enhance the braking effect?

 

Increase the radius of the brake disc
Since the braking force is equal to the force applied by the brake pad multiplied by the distance from the center of the wheel, increasing the distance from the center is a good thing in this case. Therefore, the radius of many modified brake discs on the market is larger than that of the original brake disc, so that the larger brake disc can provide greater braking force.

 

Increase caliper piston area
This is commonly referred to as the replacement of large calipers. Increasing the size of the piston in the calipers means that more areas exert specific pressure. If the pressure remains constant and the area increases, the applied force will also increase.

 

Increase tubing pressure
As the pipeline pressure increases, the braking force will also increase. If you can increase the line pressure (e.g. using a vacuum brake booster), you can indirectly optimize the braking effect.


Increase the friction coefficient between brake pad and brake disc
This is also the most popular method. You can change some brake discs with better materials, such as ceramic brake discs. In addition, there is another way to change some better brake shoes. Both methods can increase the friction coefficient between brake shoes and brake discs.

 

How to reduce brake heat attenuation?

But as the braking effect goes up, the thermal attenuation of the brake will increase, so we need to use other methods to reduce the attenuation of braking performance! For example, replace a larger brake disc to make the brake disc better absorb heat energy. In addition, ventilated brake disc or scribed and perforated brake disc can greatly reduce the temperature of brake disc during braking.
