Notice for replacing the brake disc
The replacement cycle of the brake disc:
Generally speaking, the brake pads need to be replaced every 30,000-40,000 kilometers, and the brake discs need to be replaced when the vehicle reaches 70,000 kilometers. The use time of the brake pads is relatively short, and after the brake pads are replaced twice, the brake discs must be replaced, and then the rear brakes also need to be replaced when driving to 80,000 to 100,000 kilometers. In fact, how long the brake disc of a vehicle can last depends on the road conditions of the vehicle owner, the frequency of using the vehicle, and the habit of using the vehicle. Therefore, there is no exact date for the replacement of the brake discs. Every car owner needs to check the wear and tear regularly to ensure driving safety.
How to judge that the brake disc needs to be replaced?
1. Check the thickness of the brake disc:
Most brake disc products have wear indicators. There are 3 small pits on the disc surface, each of which has a depth of 1.5mm. When the total wear depth of both sides of the brake disc reaches 3mm, the brake disc should be replaced in time.
2. Listen to the sound:
If the car makes a "iron rubbing iron" or screaming sound when the brakes are lightly tapped (the brake pads will also make this sound due to running-in when they are just installed), the brake pads must be replaced immediately. In this case, the limit marks on both sides of the brake pad have directly rubbed the brake disc, and the braking capacity of the brake pad has plummeted and exceeded the limit.
What should I do if the brake disc is rusty?
1. Treatment of slight rust:
Usually, the problem of rust is a common problem for brake discs. If it is only a slight rust, you can use continuous braking to remove the rust while driving. Because disc brakes rely on the friction between the brake calipers and the brake pads to brake, the rust can be worn away after repeated braking. Of course, the brakes should be continuously braked on a safe road section.
2. Treatment of severe rust:
The above method is still useful for slight rust, but serious rust cannot be solved. Because the rust is too stubborn, when braking, the brake pedal, steering wheel, etc. will have obvious jitter, not only cannot be "polished", but it will also accelerate the wear of the brake pads. Therefore, in this case, you should ask professional maintenance personnel to remove the brake disc for polishing and clean up the rust. If the rust is particularly serious, even a professional repair shop can do nothing but replace the brake disc.
