1 . Descriptions:
A clarifier is a water treatment equipment designed to facilitate the solid-liquid separation of suspended solid particles in water through gravity. The working principle of the clarifier relies primarily on gravity settling. The water to be treated enters from the top or bottom of the clarifier, and the flow rate is deliberately kept slow to avoid disturbing the solid particles that have already settled. Inside the clarifier, the water flow rate decreases, allowing the suspended particles to gradually settle to the bottom of the tank under the influence of gravity. This settling process may include primary sedimentation (for larger particles) and secondary sedimentation (for finer particles), depending on the specific design of the system.
The settled solid particles, referred to as sludge, accumulate at the bottom of the tank and are regularly discharged through the sludge discharge system to prevent excessive buildup, which could negatively affect the settling effect. Meanwhile, the clarified water is discharged from the top or side of the tank to proceed into the subsequent treatment process or be used directly. This clarifier plays a crucial role in an effective waste water filtration system, ensuring that suspended solids are effectively removed before further treatment.
