The cRIO-9036 is a CompactRIO Controller developed by National Instruments. The  comes with various rebooting options. It can reboot with Enable Embedded UI Mode. This mode allows the Controller to edit files. It also permits the Controller to browse the files within a graphical functioning environment. With these settings, the user can network with front panels of VIs. They are operating on the  using input and display devices. These devices are connected to the directly. The NI instrument operates on the Intel Atom E3825 CPU which has a frequency of 1.33 GHz. The Controller  features a variety of ports. It offers multiple connectivity options. These ports include a mini display port, a USB host port, a USB device port, a power connector port, SD card port, two RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet ports, and one RS-232 Serial port. The USB ports have a Hi-speed USB 2.0 interface, with a maximum data rate of 480 Mb per second.

The cRIO NI 9036 is equipped with an RS-485/422 (DTE) serial port, which is employed with an RJ-50, 10-position modular jack. The RJ-50 connector is separated from the Controller.
 

The cRIO-9036 device operates using the NI-RIO device driver software (February 2015 or later) which is compatible with software packages/application development environments such as LabVIEW, Microsoft C/C++. The 64-bit NI Linus Real-Time operating system is necessary for running the device. It has a maximum power consumption value of 46 W.

The cRIO-9036 has a reset button to troubleshoot network connectivity. The button retunes the processor in a similar way to cycling power. Ther has a USER1 reset button for general purposes. The cRIO-9036 mode of this button can be read from a LabVIEW FPGA application. The cRIO-9036 also has a CMOS reset button. This button provides help to reset the BIOS and the CMOS. The cRIO-9036 is embedded with a CMOS battery made of a lithium cell. The battery can store the Controller system clock information when the  is in the powered off state. The Controller device weighs 15 oz., with the dimensions: 12.94 x 3.47 x 4.30 in.
