The main features of the power filter include:
Impedance matching network: The power filter works through the impedance matching network. The greater the impedance matching between the input and output sides and the power supply and load sides, the more effective the attenuation of electromagnetic interference.
Bidirectional passive network: The power filter consists of an inductor (L), a capacitor (C) and a resistor (R), called a "power EMI filter", which is used to suppress the noise interference generated by the switching power supply and prevent external electromagnetic noise from interfering with the working state of the switching power supply itself and its output devices.
Filtering of differential and common mode interference: The power filter can filter out both differential mode interference and common mode interference. Differential mode interference is defined as the symmetrical interference between lines, while common mode interference is defined as the interference between lines to the reference point.
Insertion loss: Insertion loss is an important indicator to measure the performance of the power filter. It is expressed in dB. The larger the dB number, the better the filter's ability to suppress noise. Insertion loss is divided into differential mode insertion loss and common mode insertion loss.
Frequency range: The power line filter has a large attenuation in the frequency range of 100KHz – 30MHz. The low-frequency characteristics are mainly determined by the circuit structure and device parameters, and the high-frequency characteristics are mainly determined by the internal structure of the filter and the parasitic parameters of the device.
Working principle and application scenarios of power supply filter:
The power supply filter connects a filter to the power line to filter out the frequency point of a specific frequency or the frequency outside the frequency point, thereby obtaining a power supply signal of a specific frequency or eliminating a power supply signal after a specific frequency. It is mainly used to suppress the noise interference generated by the switching power supply and prevent external electromagnetic noise from interfering with the working state of the switching power supply itself and its output device. In addition, the power supply filter can also assist various electronic devices to meet standards such as VDE and FCC.

Single-phase power supply filters mainly have single-stage and multi-stage differential mode + single-stage common mode power supply filter circuit forms.
Three-phase power supply filters also have single-stage and multi-stage circuit forms.
