Kaplan turbine is widely used in a hydro power stations with the head of 2-30 meters. It is equipped with a vertical axle. There are three different types of this kind in which there is anopen trough or apressure trough or closed concrete worm-shell trough. The turbine is made up of several propellers or manualy-ajusted blades. The water pipe at the end is vertical cone-shaped or elbow-shaped. The turbine with a diameter of 1000mm is vertical cone-shaped. Therefore, it is fit for a small hydro power station with low head and load

However, this kind of kaplan turbine needs a mechanism to operate the rotation of the blade, so the structure is more complex and the cost is higher.
