HKIVI BMS lithium battery intelligent protection board is a management system tailored for large-capacity series lithium battery packs, with functions such as voltage acquisition,high current active equalization, overcharge, overdischarge, overcurrent and overtem-perature protection, coulomb counter Bluetooth communication, GPSremote and other functions .Applicable to lithium iron phosphate, ternary lithium and other battery types.Relying on the energy transfer active equalization technology with independent intellectual property rights, the protection board can achieve a maximum continuous equalization current of 2A. The high-current active equalization technology can ensure the consis-tency of the battery to the greatest extent, improve the mileage of the battery, and delay the aging of the battery.The protective board has a supporting mobile APP, which supports ANDROID andlOS operating systems. The APP can be connected to the protection board through the Bluetooth of the mobile phone to check the working status of the battery, modify various working parameters of the protection board, control the charging and discharging switch, and so on. 1. Cell Balancing: The BMS 48V monitors the individual cell voltages within the battery pack and performs cell balancing to equalize the state of charge (SOC) across all cells. This helps to maximize the battery pack's capacity and extend its lifespan.
2. Overcharge and Overdischarge Protection: The BMS 48V safeguards the battery pack by preventing overcharging and overdischarging, which can lead to battery damage or safety hazards. It continuously monitors the battery voltage and disconnects the charge or load when critical thresholds are reached.
3. Temperature Monitoring: The BMS 48V measures the temperature of the battery pack and takes appropriate actions, such as reducing the charge/discharge rates or triggering safety measures, if the temperature exceeds safe limits.

There are two ways to implement the balancing function: active balancing and passive balancing.

 

Both active balancing and passive balancing aim to eliminate the inconsistency of the battery pack, but their implementation principles are completely opposite. Here, any balance that uses resistance to dissipate energy is called passive balance, and any balance achieved through energy transfer is called active balance.
 
The inconsistency of battery cells is mainly reflected in four aspects: SOC, internal resistance, self-discharge current, and capacity. At present, the balancing technology of BMS is relatively mature, and the balancing technology is mainly aimed at the SOC level in the battery core. In an ideal world, balancing technology balances the SOC of each cell so that all cells reach the upper and lower voltage limits of charge and discharge simultaneously, increasing the available capacity of the battery pack.
 

BMS Active and passive balance are two methods used in battery management systems (BMS) to equalize the state of charge (SOC) or voltage levels of individual cells within a battery pack.
