Lycopene Description: Tomato extract is called lycopene, one of the carotenoids, is a kind of natural pigment exists in nature. It was named after the earliest found in the tomato.
The antioxidant activity of lycopene is very strong, it is 100 times of vitamin E and more than 2 times of beta-carotene. The main physiological activity of lycopene is related to antioxidation, skin protection, immune regulation, prostate and so on.
Lycopene has been widely used abroad, such as meat products, beverages, bread, candy, dairy products, etc. And, lycopene has been developed for hundreds of drugs, health foods, functional foods, and cosmetics.
In foreign countries, lycopene is mainly used for UV burns, skin protection, anti-aging, Carotenoid compound, and products for prostate health. In Israel, India, Japan and other countries, lycopene products are quite popular. Companies in the United States and Japan have produced drugs which take lycopene as main active ingredients, mainly used for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high blood fat and so on. In the United States and France, lycopene is also applied to prostate protection products. While in Israel and Australia, lycopene is used to prevent UV and protect skin.
In addition, Lycopene can be used as preservative and colorant for meat products because because of its high antioxidant property. It is found that adding lycopene to sausages can slow the oxidation reaction, improve product color and inhibit microorganism.
