Baikal Skullcap and extract Description: Baikal Skullcap is a species of flowering plant in the Lamiaceae family. It is a traditional Chinese medicine whose antibacterial activity is better than Coptis chinensis and no resistance.
Baicalin possesses broad-spectrum antibacterial property. The inhibitory activity of Baicalin on Staphylococcus aureus can be used for functional cosmetics for acne, and its inhibitory property on bacteria and fungi can be used in cosmetic preservative. Many biological activities of Scutellaria baicalin make it a popular functional ingredient in cosmetics for skin whitening and sunscreen, anti-inflammation, and anti-aging. Baicalin can absorb ultraviolet light and itself is a kind of antianaphylaxis ingredient, which can be used in sunscreen products and help repair sunburned skin.
Besides, Baicalin is also widely used in feed industry with the activity of antiviral, immune regulation, anti-inflammation, and no resistance. The study found that adding Baikal Skullcap extract in the chicken feed can help increase laying rate, and adding in pig feed, it can help promote appetite and increase feed intake.
