Description: Boswellia is a genus of trees in the order Sapindales, known for their fragrant resin which has many pharmacological uses, particularly as anti-inflaamatories. Boswellia are moderate-sized flowering plant, including both trees and shrubs and are native to tropical regions of Africa and Asia. Boswellia has long been used in Ayurvedic medicine. Recently, the boswellic acids that are a component of the resin it produces have shown some promise as a treatment for asthma and various inflammtory conditions.In West Africa, the bark of Boswellia dalzielii is used to treat fever, rheumatism and gastrointestinal problems. Boswellia incense may even relieve depression.
Boswellic acids are a series of pentacyclic triterpene molecules that are produced by plants in the genus Boswellia. Like many other terpenes, boswellic acids appear in the resin of the plant that exudes them; it is estimated that they make up 30% of the resin of Boswellia serrata.
Function:
1. Powderful Anti-inflammatory property.
2. Used for Rheumatic joint pain or rheumatoid joint pain
3. Used for bleeing sore and Chest/abdominal pains casued by blood stasis, often with myrrh;
4. Used for treatments of stomachache due to emotional depression and the hyperactive liver-qi attacking the stomach, often with rhizoma cyperi and Radix Curcumae.
5. Promoting blood circulation to arrest pain
Storage: Store in sealed containers at cool & dry place. Protect from light, moisture and pest infestation
Shelf life: 2 year when properly stored.
